Welcome to Nagoonberries Music. I am music teacher in downtown Juneau. I love teaching music to students of all ages, child to adult. Being able to play music has allowed me to have many amazing opportunities in my life and has brought me a great deal of joy. My goal is for my students to have the same.

Rock band lessons

• Choose electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, or singing and play in a rock band!
• Learn an instrument, make new friends, and have fun.
• No experience needed; music is arranged to meet the players where they’re at.
• Instruments are provided for rehearsals.
• Ages 9+ to adult — yes there are grownup bands too!
• Meets weekly for 45 minutes.

Individual guitar, piano, and songwriting lessons

• Beginner to advanced.
• Lessons are 30 minutes weekly. Longer lessons sometimes available if it’s a good fit for the student.
• Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests, needs, and goals.
• Piano lessons use a variety of method books and music, from classical to modern, to teach note reading and piano technique.
• Guitar lessons generally begin with open chords and single note melodies and riffs and build from there depending on what styles students want to play.
• Songwriting and music production lessons can include music theory, chord progressions, production, recording techniques, mixing, mastering, and everything in-between!
• Recommended ages: 7+ for piano, 9+ for guitar.

About me
I was born and raised in Juneau. I have a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Alaska. I am certified to teach kindergarten through 8^th grade and I taught elementary music at Mendenhall River Community School in the Juneau school district from 2006-2017.

I started playing piano at age seven (thanks Mrs. Anderson!) and guitar since 2005. I’ve taught private piano and guitar lessons for 15 years through my own studio Nagoonberries Music, as adjunct faculty at the University of Alaska, and with Thrush Hill Music.

I produce pop and rock music as Blue Nagoon. I’ve played in and directed many groups and accompanied a variety of artists in Juneau including local pop/rock supergroup Susu and the Prophets from 2012-2023.
